Quarterly BGB Burn: Q1 2026
As part of our ongoing commitment to supply discipline and transparent tokenomics, the Morph Foundation has completed the quarterly BGB token burn for Q1 2026 (January 1 to March 31, 2026).
A total of 3,000,330 BGB has been permanently removed from circulation.
For background on BGB's tokenomics framework and the quarterly burn mechanism, see Evolving BGB: Governance, Gas, and Growth on Morph.
Burn Calculation
The burn amount follows the transparent, usage-linked formula introduced in the November 2025 tokenomics update:
- Ecosystem Fee Value: $7,270 USD (total protocol fees generated on Morph, excluding L1 Ethereum costs)
- Average BGB Price: $2.69 USD
- Adjustable Governance Factor: 100% (baseline, no adjustment applied)
- Booster: 1,110x
Step-by-step:
- Base burn from usage: $7,270 / $2.69 = 2,703 BGB
- Governance Factor applied: 2,703 x 1.00 = 2,703 BGB
- Booster applied: 2,703 x 1,110 = 3,000,330 BGB
The Booster is a multiplier designed to calibrate burn intensity during the network's growth phase, when protocol fees are still scaling. It ensures that quarterly burns remain meaningful while staying anchored to objective onchain activity.
Given that protocol revenue has not changed significantly since the previous quarter, the Morph Foundation has executed this quarter's burn directly using the same publicly verifiable calculation methodology.
Why This Matters
Quarterly burns reduce total BGB supply based on real network usage, reinforcing a direct relationship between ecosystem growth and token scarcity. This mechanism supports long-term alignment between token holders and the health of the Morph network.
