What Would Make You Choose Stablecoin Payments?
Making stablecoin payments available is only part of the job. Understanding why someone would choose them deserves just as much attention.
A business adds stablecoin payments. Its customers carry on paying exactly as they did before.
Is that a lack of awareness? Or have we skipped a more basic question: what would make them want to change?
In her commentary for Asian Banking & Finance, Morph’s Global Communications Lead Deborah Tan-Pink explores a gap in the stablecoin conversation. Banks, issuers and payment providers are discussing what they can build. The everyday people expected to use it have had fewer opportunities to explain what they need.
For anyone building payment products, that changes where the work begins.
A freelancer might be comfortable receiving an overseas payment today, but frustrated by the effort involved in matching payments to invoices. An agency might care less about how quickly it can send money than whether its contractors can easily use what they receive.
Start with those conversations, and the priorities become clearer. We can ask where people lose time, what makes them hesitate and which parts of their current payment process they would actually like to change.
Even people familiar with stablecoins may have good reasons to keep using another payment method. Understanding those reasons is valuable product feedback.
The opportunity is to give people an improvement they can recognise in their own working lives. That starts with inviting them into the conversation while there is still something to shape.
